Whole house water filter systems are designed to remove rust, sediment, chlorine, and other chemical contaminants from all water entering your home, and are placed on the main water line entering your property. This means that no matter where you are in your house, whether it's the guest bedroom shower, outside hose, kitchen or bathroom sink, you and your family can enjoy clean, healthy, and great-tasting water.
Not only does a whole house water filter provide the luxury of clean, great-tasting water from every faucet in the house, but it can also help extend the life of appliances that use water, such as dishwashers, water heaters, and washing machines. This is because the filter removes the sediment, chlorine, and other contaminants that would otherwise be entering those appliances.
The Tier1 Whole House Filter Cartridge Compatible with DGD-5005 is built to reduce virtually all types of sediment 5 microns or larger. This filter cartridge will fit easily into any system that uses 10x4.5 inch filters. Once installed, the filter will help you maintain water of the highest quality, while protecting your fixtures, faucets, and appliances from the risk of sediment corrosion.
Specifications and features of the Tier1 P5-10BB Whole House Filter Cartridge include: - Actual Size: 9 7/8 inches (length) x 4 1/4 inches (outside diameter) - Media: Bonded Polypropylene - Filter Life: 6 months - Micron: 5 - Flow Rate: 10 GPM
This filter cartridge is designed to fit filtration system housings that accept 10 x 4.5 inch cartridges and is capable of removing contaminants such as dirt, particulates, sediment, silt, and sand.
The installation process is straightforward and easy: 1. Turn off the water supply and press the red pressure-relief button (if present). 2. Unscrew the housing, remove the large o-ring, and wipe it clean. 3. Discard the used filter cartridge, wash the housing with dish soap and warm water, and rinse thoroughly. 4. Fill the housing 1/3 with water, add about 1 tablespoon of bleach, and scrub to disinfect. Rinse thoroughly. 5. Lubricate the o-ring with clean silicone grease and ensure it is seated level in the groove. 6. Insert the new filter cartridge and screw the housing onto the cap, hand-tightening it. 7. Turn on the water supply, press the pressure-relief button (if present), and check for leaks.
Investing in a sediment-reducing filter is beneficial for several reasons. Sediment in drinking water can be an indicator of lead or iron contamination, which can cause serious health issues. Sediment filters also help protect other appliances and possessions from the harmful effects of particles, which can cause staining, spots, and wear and deterioration on pipes and appliances. Additionally, sediment filters can increase the lifetime of other filtration media in your home by reducing the number of particles and contaminants that would otherwise wear them down.
